Huge grant awarded for The Warren

The Tree Council have awarded Harting Parish Council a grant of £32,179.00 towards the regeneration of The Warren which has been so badly affected by ash dieback disease.

The level of the grant is far more than expected and reflects the confidence this national charity has in the work undertaken to remove diseased trees from the area and the woodland replanting and management plan that will ensure future for this much loved area.

Harting Parish Council have been working with arboriculturists, the Forestry Commission, The Tree Council and other experts to meet the challenge presented by the discovery of ash dieback disease in nearly all the trees at The Warren, resulting in the tree felling last year.  A replanting and woodland management scheme has been developed for our community which will ensure a diverse and healthy woodland can be enjoyed for generations to come.

COVID-19 PANDEMIC UPDATE – July 2020

Parish Council Emergency Group Suspended

You will have seen the news that the Government is lifting some of the restrictions to allow us to move about more freely again.  This means that the Parish Council Emergency Group (PCEG) is no longer required in the same way as before and will therefore be suspended.

However, we do understand that life cannot return to ‘normal’ for everyone. We are all having to learn to live with managing the risk of infection from Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and this may affect us in different ways. We will still be available to support those who remain in protective isolation, and to people who may have to self-isolate with members of their household in the future.

get in touch if you need help

Please call our parish Clerk, Trish Walker, on 01730 825201 or email clerk@harting-pc.gov.ukIf you want to keep using the traffic light posters in your window please do so.

The Parish Council will continue to monitor the situation regarding the pandemic in our community and to work with Chichester District and West Sussex County councils.  The Emergency Group will remain ready to be fully reinstated if and when the need arises.

Old Club March Goes Ahead – 25 May 2020

Old Club members on the Church steps

The Old Club march went ahead on Whit Monday, as it has since before 1800, despite the lockdown.  Observing social distancing and with flags waving the annual march took place in The Street.  With the Festivities cancelled and no band to accompany them there were only a few to witness the event but the tradition goes on.
