There is an ongoing issue affecting the water supply in the GU31 area, some properties have low pressure and others are without water. The Parish Council is in direct contact with Southern Water and will publish their updates on this page when received:
Southern Water update 4.15pm – 28 August 2025
“The leak has been narrowed down to between two valves on Elsted Road in the village. We have now shut these valves, which means water will steadily return to the wider area but that the 14 properties between the valves will remain without water until the leak is found and the repair is complete.
Bottled water will be delivered to these 14 properties and our teams on site will visit the residents at each to explain the situation.
Residents are advised that any discolouration of water at their taps is normal and caused by air bubbles or harmless iron deposits in the pipes.
We advise running the kitchen tap, which is most commonly the closest in the home network to the water main, until the water clears.
We are sorry for the disruption this leak has caused and are grateful for residents’ patience.”
Southern Water update 1pm – 28 August 2025
“Some customers in South Harting have reported low pressure or a loss of water supply to us early yesterday morning, 27 August. We have a team of engineers out in the village searching for the leak and water tankers are injecting water into the network to boost pressure while that search continues. We’re delivering water to affected customers in the area this afternoon.”
